Halloween and Blue Eyes

This week in The Bluest Eye, we uncovered how much African Americans did not like their own appearance and lifestyle. We also dwelled upon how the African American has tried to mimic other cultures to be more accepted into society. So than I thought is there any situation or event that whites or other cultures try to fit into or at least change their appearance completely. And then I noticed it was closer than expected : Halloween. Ah the time to dress up as are favorite celebrities, characters or creature for jokes, laughs and parties. Although, being a person that hasn’t celebrated Halloween since I was in the 1st grade, I don’t see the point of it all anymore. What is the meaning of this Holiday? Is it to scare people? Is it to live in the life of someone else for a day? We have all seen the dedication some people put into their costumes and it seems like they are so dedicated into leaving their own personality to disguise themselves with another one. I know that it is commercialized as just a fun thing to do but is it really for fun or is it to view ourselves as “superior” beings?
